Crow

ou
know that I've been hammering about the "escándalo" that crummy congrsswoman
Ginny Brown-Waite created in Florida over her desire not to give Boricuas (and
Samoans) some stimulus rebates President Bush had approved.
Enter crows - Eating crow, as y'all know (archaically, eating boiled crow) is an
English idiom meaning humiliation by admitting wrongness or having been proven
wrong after taking a strong position. This position she held, holds and will
hold forever, since a rebellious heart is worse than witchcraft, will haunt her
eternally. However, whether the lady eats the bird is yet to bee seen, but...
BEHOLD! ...dinner is served, nonetheless, Ginny!
The U.S. Treasury on Wednesday said it approved a $1.282 billion economic
stimulus payment to Puerto Rico to be distributed to local residents as
"recovery rebates" intended to revive the pathetic island's economy; The
payment is part of the broader $152 billion U.S. economic stimulus plan, under
which the Treasury will begin to distribute tax rebate checks to U.S. taxpayers
in early May.
A Treasury spokesman said Puerto Rican taxpayers will receive
amounts equivalent to the U.S. rebate checks of about $600 per individual or
$1,200 per married couple.
Of course, under the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008, Puerto
Rico's government had to submit a plan outlining how it would distribute the
rebates before a one-time payment could be made from the U.S.Treasury to the
Puerto Rico Treasury Department. Naturally, as an autonomous commonwealth Puerto
Rico, operates an independent tax system.
So, while the honorable congresswoman eats her supper, let's fire up the word
processor, compadres!

Crow is a dish best served ...cold!

Peace and Prosperity!
